How To Use Bass Engine in Ableton Live

Step 1 - Load Bass Engine on Your Bass Track

Drop Bass Engine onto any bass synth, sub layer, or bass bus. It's designed for individual bass tracks, not full mixes or master channels. Works on any bass style, from a clean sub to a heavily modulated reese or pluck.

Step 2 - Set Your Dry/Wet Blend First

Before touching anything else, bring Macro 8 (Dry/Wet) to around 50% so you can hear the wet chain working alongside your dry signal. This gives you a reference point before you start shaping.

Step 3 - Dial In the Character

Use Macro 3 to set the aggression level, this is the hero control. From there use Macro 1 to shape the tonal balance and Macro 6 to dial in how much low-end weight sits in the mix.

Step 4 - Refine and Blend

Use Macros 2, 4, 5, and 7 to refine the character. Then bring Macro 8 up or down until the bass sits confidently in the mix. If it feels heavier and more present without sounding processed, you've found the sweet spot.
